Crooked River Roundup offers variety of family-friendly fun events
PRINEVILLE, Ore. (KTVZ) --The Crooked River Roundup is excited to announce some extra-fun events as it counts down the days toward this weekend’s event.
A record number of contestants from the Professional Rodeo Association (PRCA) and Women’s Professional Rodeo Association—over 600 contestants from across the nation—are planning to kick up their heels to win record-breaking payouts of over $200,000 in prize money.
Further, fans can cheer the top 15 PRCA world-standings contestants competing in Slack on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday at 9 am, and Saturday at 11 am following the parade. And if that didn’t provide enough “star”-gazing, families also are invited to nightly rodeo performances scheduled for Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 7 pm — a cool ending for some hot competition.
Beyond an incredible list of rodeo queen royalty joining in nightly for the grand entry, special guests, new events and returning highlights include:
- A Cowboy Dance on Friday and Saturday after the last bull bucks, featuring live music from Hunter Stiles and local fiddling sensation Chance Mott;
- A special nightly Young Gun meet-and-greet in the hospitality tent at 6:30 pm, at which rising stars have a chance to meet their rodeo idols before competing alongside them; and
- Entertainment with JJ Harrison—back by popular demand as the Man in the Barrel and the one in charge of all things fun, including kids’ favorite “Calf Scramble” during each performance.
As always, CRR’s focus is on family fun and community connection. Thursday’s “Family Night” offers free admission for kids ages 12 and under; Friday’s “Patriot Night” and Saturday’s “Wildland Firefighters Night” round out the offerings for down-home fun. And don’t head home without your copy of the 2024 commemorative CRR poster and new CRR-branded swag; make sure to stop by the Merchandise Tent to remember the fun with special souvenirs.
