Sunriver Nature Center & Observatory kicks off Ponderosa tree sales; Fungi Fest and Mushroom Show coming up
SUNRIVER, Ore. (KTVZ) -- The Sunriver Nature Center and Observatory is ramping up its fall activities, including a Ponderosa tree and seedling sale that began Thursday.
"Fall is the perfect time to plant your very own living legacy!" the announcement said. "Planting Ponderosa trees helps support our local ecosystem by restoring habitats and improving biodiversity. By participating in the 2025 Fall Ponderosa sale, you contribute to the beautification of our community and play a vital role in enhancing the area's environmental health.

Thursday also brought a talk by forest consltant Terry Droessler about forest "carbon pools and Verfied Carbon Units.
And the nature center's Fungi Fest and Mushroom Show is coming up on Saturday, October 11th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
On a related note, on Thursday, October 9, mycologist Noah Siegel, who co-wrote a book on fungi in the Northwest, speaks at 6:30 p.m. on 'Cascadia - A Fungal Paradise." The talk, at First Presbyeterian Church in Bend, is hosted by the Central Oregon Mushroom Club.
The Nature Center also holds a 'Fungi Foray Field Trip' on Friday, October 10 at 9 a.m. in Sunriver and a Wild Woodsman Dinner at 5 p.m. that night.
