Deschutes County deputies seek public’s help to find whoever abandoned 8 puppies in La Pine area
Finder brought them to La Pine Animal Hospital, now being treated at Humane Society in Bend
La PINE, Ore. (KTVZ) – Deschutes County sheriff’s deputies sought the public’s help Monday in finding the owner of eight puppies that apparently were abandoned last week in the La Pine area.
Deputies were dispatched last Thursday to the La Pine Animal Hospital regarding the puppies, which were brought in by a concerned citizen, Sergeant Jason Wall said.
An investigation determined the puppies, believed to be about 7-8 weeks old, were abandoned in the area of Boundary Road and Cam De Oro, Wall said.
A witness said a green Subaru was seen leaving the area, driven by a man in his late 20s with a female passenger. Wall said the vehicle may be unrelated, but investigators would like to contact the two occupants.
The eight puppies were eventually taken to the Humane Society of Central Oregon in Bend, where all were evaluated and currently being treated.
“Based on the information gathered, it appears the puppies were abandoned,” Wall said in a news release.
As the sheriff’s office tries to locate their owners, anyone who recognizes them or has information about the owners is asked to contact county 911 dispatchers at the non-emergency numbers, 541-693-6911, in reference to case No. 24-7083.
