Walmart recalls 850,000 Ozark Trail water bottles due to safety risk
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- If you own a stainless steel water bottle from Walmart, it’s time to check your cupboard. Walmart is recalling 850,000 Ozark Trail 64-ounce insulated water bottles because of a potential safety risk.
According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), the problem is with the bottle’s lid. If a drink is left inside with the lid sealed for a certain amount of time, pressure can build up and cause the lid to pop off forcefully. So far, Walmart has received three reports of people suffering facial injuries when the lid ejected unexpectedly while opening the bottle.
The affected bottles have been sold at Walmart stores and online since 2017.
If you have one of these bottles, stop using it immediately. You can return it to any Walmart location for a full refund.
For more information about the recall, visit the CPSC website or contact Walmart customer service. Stay safe and check your water bottles!
