Bend Cut-A-Thon Fundraiser For Wheelchair

Images Salon, which has been in Bend for 28 years, held a fund-raiser Sunday for Noel Aponte, who i friends with the owner, Pam Walker.

Aponte lived in Bend several years ago, then moved to the East Coast. He suffered a spinal cord injury last December. after his return to Central Oregon.

Employees at the salon donated their time for Sunday’s event. There was a $20 haircut donation and a raffle to help raise $5,000 for the customized wheelchair.

“It’s such a tragedy — one minute you’re walking, the next minute you are not,” Walker said. “They are just limited on funds — just trying to do something to benefit him.”

So far, they have raised a little over $1,000.

Walker’s husband has even been donating cans and bottles to raise the money.

Fabolous Finds also donated 20 percent of all the sales on women’s accessories.
