Bend PD Officer Plans Women’s Safety Class

KTVZ

If someone attacked you would you be ready to defend yourself?

That’s the question Bend police Officer Elizabeth Lawrence wants women to be able to say ‘yes’ to.

Lawrence will be running a women’s safety class which will answer questions about personal safety, and teach women how to use tools, such as Tasers, pepper spray and guns, to protect themselves.

“I felt being a women police officer, I had a unique idea about women’s safety,” Lawrence said Sunday.

” And I thought I should have a forum where women can comfortably come and speak and ask questions, and talk about personal safety issues, personal carry tools that they can use to defend themselves,” she added.

Lawrence said her class will be available for about 30 women, ages 15 and up. No date has been set for the forum yet, but if you are interested in attending, you can contact Lawrence at 541-322-2960, ext. 3562.
