Carl Edwards’ NASCAR Car Comes to Bend
The Aflac NASCAR show car was in town Saturday to promote the company and its driver, Carl Edwards.
Many came out to see the car and talk with local Aflac agents about the company.
But all eyes seemed to be on the 3,400-pound, 880-horsepower, four-speed, small-block Ford.
The car did participate in a race in Texas, where Edwards didn’t finish too hot.
Kevin Rich, who works with Edwards, says he hopes the car puts a smile on people’s faces, and a chance to see what the drivers experience.
“The thing about NASCAR is, we pay for our own stuff,” Rich said. “We do not ask, like football, baseball and basketball, ‘Hey, will you pay more taxes, so we can build a new stadium?’ We go and build our stuff. Of course, yes, it costs more for you to come see us, but we depend on it.”
A little tidbit: Edwards buys and keeps all of the cars he wins with. So 19 wins means 19 cars.
Asked how Edwards will finish this year, Rich said he thinks he’s going to take it.
