Saving Grace gets tribal donation
Saving Grace is thrilled to announce a $6,000 grant from the Cow Creek Umpqua Indian Foundation. These funds will be used for helping victims of domestic violence and sexual assault with emergency assistance.
Saving Grace clients will receive help with items such as; emergency transportation, security for their homes, assistance obtaining legal documents as well as food and clothing.
“We are extremely grateful to Cow Creek Umpqua Indian Foundation for supporting Saving Grace in providing emergency shelter, transportation and other services to domestic and sexual violence victims who need it the most. Ultimately, Cow Creek is helping us keep our community safe,” says Trish Meyer, Assistant Executive Director of Saving Grace.
Cow Creek Band of the Umpqua Tribe of Indians has a long and proud history of giving back to the communities in which they live and work. In 1997 the Tribe formalized this tradition of philanthropy by establishing a grant making foundation, first known as the Cow Creek Seven Feathers Foundation.
In the spring of 2000 the foundation changed its name to the Cow Creek Umpqua Indian Foundation, to emphasize that it is a private, independent foundation, representing the Tribe, and not to be confused with one of the Tribe’s many economic development endeavors, the Seven Feathers Resort.
Each year, the Cow Creek Umpqua Indian Foundation makes grants to eligible non-profit organizations in communities in Douglas, Coos, Lane, Deschutes, Klamath, Jackson and Josephine counties. Since its beginning, the Cow Creek Foundation has awarded more than $10 million dollars in grants to community non-profit organizations in the seven county areas.
