Bend FD Historical Society rummage sale

KTVZ

On Friday, August 17 and Saturday, August 18, the Bend Fire Department Historical Society will hold its’ 4th annual garage sale. Help from the public is greatly needed in order for this fundraiser to succeed.

We are seeking donations of good quality items, including clothing, household items, furniture, sporting goods, etc. All donations are tax-deductible (receipt will be provided), and free pickup service is available in the Bend and Tumalo areas.

This event is a fundraiser to help preserve the 100+ year history of the Department.

One of the goals of the Bend Fire Department Historical Society is to bring our first engine, a 1918 American-LaFrance, home to Bend. It is currently owned by the Poulsbo Fire Department in Poulsbo, Washington due to its’ similarity to their own first engine.

The firefighters of Poulsbo have agreed to send our Engine 1 home to us if we can locate and purchase a similar 1918 American LaFrance engine for them. While there are a few out there, the cost is approximately $20,000.

We need your help to BRING OUR HISTORY HOME! Your tax-deductible donation of garage sale items (cash donations are welcome as well) will help us in not only bringing our Engine 1 home, but also in taking the next step……..planning and building a Bend Fire museum so the past may be shared with all! Thank you in advance for your assistance.
