Missing Portland man sought near Warm Springs

KTVZ

Portland police are seeking the public’s help as they try to find a missing Portland man who may last have been in the Warm Springs area.

On Friday, 42-year-old James Lund was reported missing to the Portland Police Bureau by family members, after he failed to return home from a day trip the day before.

Officers said Lund had been planning on taking a drive by himself to an unknown destination for the day, within the Mount Hood National Forest. He did not specify where he was going, but he has been known to frequent areas south of Government Camp, as well as the Bagby Hot Springs area.

Lund had mentioned possibly going to the Ape Caves, in Washington state, near Mount St. Helens, but he apparently changed his mind and had talked about staying within Oregon.

It has been described as being highly unusual that Lund would fail to contact family members, or fail to return home at the end of the day.

Portland police Missing Persons Unit detectives have learned Lund’s cell phone records reflect that he may have been somewhere west of Highway 26, northwest of the Warm Springs area, at some point after he left home.

The Warm Springs Police Department began assisting Portland Police on Friday, but there were no signs of Lund or his vehicle in the area.

Lund is described as a white male, 6 feet tall, weighing 180 pounds, with receding, short-cropped, blonde hair and blue eyes.

He was believed to have last been wearing a long-sleeved, zippered black knit jacket over a black T-shirt, blue jeans, black and grey tennis shoes, and a cream-colored baseball cap with an unknown white, red and black logo on the front.

Lund is believed to be driving a black 2005 Honda Element sport utility vehicle, with Oregon license plates 294 BSY.

Anyone who knows where Lund is now is asked to immediately call 9-1-1. Anyone with additional information is asked to contact Detective Mike Weinstein, Portland Police Bureau, at (5903) 823-0446
