Bend Surgery Center Foundation scholarships

The Bend Surgery Center Foundation awarded $29,500 in scholarships to recent high school graduates entering college this fall who plan on pursuing a career in the healthcare field.

Twenty-six students from area high schools were each awarded scholarship awards ranging from $500 – $5,000 to use at the college of their choosing.

“Providing resources to assist Central Oregon students in getting the necessary education to have a career in healthcare is an honor,” said Neal Maerki. “Being able to contribute to the future of our local healthcare community has been embraced by the local medical and greater Central Oregon community through donations at our annual fundraiser.”

The scholarships were available to eligible high school seniors from all three Bend high schools, as well as to Crook County, LaPine, Gilchrist, Madras, Redmond and Sisters schools. The foundation wishes to congratulate the following scholarship winners:

Sisters High School Sebastian Boehm

Summit High School Megan Knowlton, Keelin Moehl, Zachary Hoskins, Claire Navarra, Daisy Gallegos, Josilyn Ogden, Gardenia Rodriguez

“I can’t put into words how excited I am to go to the Oregon Institute of Technology and get a degree in radiology,” said Elissa Brouillard, scholarship recipient from the 2012 class of Redmond High School. “Thank you so much for all of your support and encouragement.”

The Bend Surgery Center Foundation will hold their 4th annual fundraising events to raise money to provide additional scholarships on January 26, 2013. The event will be held at the Tower Theatre and will feature entertainment, food & drinks and a live and silent auction.
