Special adoption event at Bend PetSmart
Local and regional animal rescue groups and shelters are holding a special adoption event at PetSmart Friday, Saturday and Sunday, September 14-16.
This is part of PetSmart Charities’ National Adoption Event. Each time this event is held, up to 21,000 homeless animals are placed into new homes.
The number of abandoned and rescued cats, dogs, puppies and kittens has been at an all-time high this year, especially in Central Oregon. All shelters and rescue groups are bursting at the seams and need to find good forever homes for many animals, all of which deserve a second chance.
PetSmart has offered the use of their store, and will be providing free and discounted pet food and other items to each adopter. Low adoption fees, too. All animals are altered, vaccinated, and many will also have an ID chip depending on the rescue/shelter group.
Potential participants are:
Save a Stray – Burns
Cat Rescue, Adoption & Foster Team (CRAFT)
Humane Society of Redmond
Humane Society of the Ochocos
Lakeview Animal Rescue – Lake County
Long Creek/John Day Rescue
Location: PetSmart, Cascade Village Mall, near Target & Penney’s
Dates/Time: September 14 through 16, 11 AM to 4 PM
Some special needs animals will be featured, such as Nikki and Nola (two sister kittens who had terribly infected eyes when rescued; one had to have her eyes removed and the other has partial vision – they need a home together); at least two cats who are declawed; and other animals that need very special new homes.
