NeighborImpact marks Energy Awareness Month
NeighborImpact’s Weatherization Program assists Central Oregonians by providing services that provide home energy efficiency and safety improvements. These efforts result in residents that are more comfortable in their homes and more comfortable with their finances.
“As National Energy Awareness Month approaches, we wanted to let everyone know there are many opportunities to save money in their homes through energy efficiency in their homes,” states Matthew Martin, NeighborImpact energy specialist. “This conservation of resources benefits our environment, our nation’s energy security, and our wallets. That’s a triple win.”
National Energy Awareness Month was created in 1991 by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to promote energy awareness and energy savings. In recognition, NeighborImpact will have a campaign that includes a booth at the Bend Fall Festival in the Conscious Living Showcase and, through a partnership with Head Start in Madras, Energy Kits for the children that include youth oriented energy educational materials.
The NeighborImpact Weatherization Program provides free, grant funded weatherization services including energy efficient home improvements such as insulation, air sealing and replacement of inefficient appliances.
Eligibility requires an application, income qualification and homeowner approval. The program also includes an energy education workshop that provides an introduction to how energy is used in the home and offers tips and resources that will save energy and money.
The workshop is free, available to the general public, and is conducted at regularly scheduled times and upon request throughout the region.
“This program directly relates to NeighborImpact’s mission of empowering individuals and families to succeed by giving them the tools to manage resources intelligently,” said Martin. “As National Weatherization Day Approaches on October 30th, we want the community to know we are here to support their needs.”
