Redmond seeks input on Sam Johnson Park plans
The City of Redmond is in the midst of designing a Sam Johnson Park Improvement Project and they would like to hear from the community. Two upcoming public forums are planned to talk about the design concepts and to gather input from community residents.
They will take place Thursday, October 18, 5:00 – 6:30 PM, at Sam Johnson Park and October 24, 6:30 – 8:30 PM, at Redmond City Hall.
Sam Johnson Park is the most centrally located park in the City of Redmond and is wildly popular with the community. However, the playground and facilities are some of the oldest in the park system.
A community citizens group called Friends of Sam Johnson Park, the Redmond Kiwanis Club and City of Redmond staff have been working with a consultant on new designs for the park with a goal of building a playground and park that serves the whole community (0 – 100 years), including those living with disabilities.
The mission of the project is to create a fun space of play for the whole community that fosters collaboration, communication and enjoyment for all.
Sam Johnson Park was deeded to the City of Redmond by the late Sam and Becky Johnson in the 1980s for a community park that serves the families and children of Redmond.
