Eight rifles, shotguns stolen from Culver home

Eight rifles and shotguns were among items stolen from a Culver home by burglars who got in through an unlocked window, Jefferson County sheriff’s investigators said Wednesday as they both warned the public and sought its help in recovering the weapons.

The burglary and theft occurred at a home on Lakeshore Drive on Monday, between the hours of 8:45 a.m. and 1 p.m., said sheriff’s Detective Starla Green.

The suspects, possibly two white male adults in a black passenger car, entered the home through an unlocked window and took eight rifles as well as an old gray floor safe, a laptop computer, a woman’s wedding ring and a PS3 gaming system with several accessories and games, Green said.

The stolen firearms include three 12-gauge shotguns, one being a Mossburg Model 570 with the camouflage inlay, the detective said. Others include two .22 rifles and a 30.06 pump-action with a scope. Green said an antique weapon also was taken, though she had no description as of yet, or other information on the weapons.

“The concern is the safety of the communities because of the weapons that were stolen,” Green said in a news release.

Anyone with information that could lead to the location of the stolen items and possible suspects was acted to contact sheriff’s Deputy James Shevlin at (541) 475-2201 or the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-877-876-TIPS (or the form on KTVZ.COM’s Crime Stoppers page).
