Stolen bulldog puppy returned after standoff, arrest
An English Bulldog puppy that was taken from an Oregon City couple at gunpoint has been found safe after police arrested a suspect in Vancouver Sunday.
KGW reports that Vancouver police said Sunday that the SWAT Team was called to 4710 Plomondon Street #14, and after a three-hour standoff, 23-year-old Jajuane Etheridge was arrested and booked for possession of stolen property.
The English Bulldog puppy was then located in a closed suitcase, one of the dog’s owners told KGW.
The puppy was stolen at gunpoint Friday afternoon, along with some of the owners’ personal belongings, police said.
The owner of Aldercrest Kennels had arranged to meet someone just before 3 p.m. and sell the puppy for $2,000, according to Sgt. Adam Phillips.
The man who came to meet them instead brandished a gun and robbed them.
“The suspect looked at the pup briefly, then pulled out a semi-auto handgun, pointed it at the victims and told them to give him their wallets, watches, and cell phones,” Phillips said.
He said the couple refused, but the suspect took the dog and ran to a car waiting with a driver inside. No injuries were reported.
