Unbeaten Oregon State ignites ‘Beaver Fever’
It’s been 105 years since the Oregon State football team has started 6-0 on the season, and now Beaver Fever is catching on across the state.
“Traditionally, I would be a Ducks fan, but anybody that does well that is close to home is good for me,” said Daniel Cosgrove.
“Definitely watching the Beavers hoping they stay undefeated until the Civil War game,” said Kevin Balzer, an Oregon Ducks fan.
“Seeing them now higher than they use to be and seeing both Oregon teams doing very well, it’s actually pretty exciting.” said Sam Hunting.
Saturday’s, 21-7 win over Utah made the Beavers bowl and kept their win streak alive. The dream season no one really saw coming has sent swarms of OSU fans to stock up on Beavers gear.
“It has been really exciting, when you compare it to the season that we had last year,” said Erik Anderson the apparel manager at the OSU Book Store in Corvallis. “The excitement that we are having around the program this year its noticeably increased.”
With the national attention on an “average” team, there is one thing every fan is trying to get there hands on.
“The Beaver Juice tee has been really exciting,” said Anderson, “It’s something that has been thrown around on (ESPN’s) College Game Day. Anything that they give press to, we sell awfully quickly.”
As the O-Staters continue to put points on the board, one thing is for certain: The dream and excitement are alive and well in Beaver Nation.
The OSU Book Store is a non profit, so the increased sales means more money going back to the students.
