Bend horse show a ‘Halloween Spooktacular’
A world renowned horse trainer is in Bend this week, giving some clinics. On Sunday, she judged a Halloween horse costume contest.
The winner, Ashley Milton of Bend, was dressed as Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz and her horse Reba was dressed as the scarecrow.
Wylene Wilson helped judge the fiifth annual horse show at Silver Horse Ranch.
Wilson may be considered the most famous cowgirl in the world right now.
She was featured in a documentary that won the viewers’ choice award at the BendFilm Festival last year.
Wilson has judged rodeo queen contests to cowboy races to even regular horse shows.
“I think the reason it is so great to judge is, I want to be approachable,” Wilson said. “I want people to know why I judged them the way I did, so I’m not somebody you can’t talk to. I’m very open and honest with people, and we obviously want to improve our horsemanship every day.”
Wilson is known for her training specialty of laying horses down, helping them to trust and relax.
Next Sunday, Wilson will be staging and judging an all-day trail competition at the ranch.
There are still room for clinics this week.
