Museum brings ‘Wild Adventures’ to libraries

Wild Adventures with the High Desert Museum, a new, free, 45-minute program of storytelling, a related craft activity, and sometimes a live bird or reptile, is now happening regularly at libraries in Redmond, Prineville and Madras.

Wild Adventures with the High Desert Museum will be on:
– the first and third Mondays at Deschutes Public Library, Redmond, at 10:15 am

the first and third Mondays at the Jefferson County Library annex, Madras, 1:30 pm the first and third Tuesdays at Crook County Library, Prineville, 10 am

Museum Vice President of Programs Dana Whitelaw said, “We always strive to extend the reach of the Museum’s work, creating natural and cultural history learning experiences in which people discover their connection to the past, their role in the present and their responsibility to the future. Partnering with these libraries is a wonderful way to bring literacy based education programs to our community.”

Spaces are limited, so arrive earlier to ensure a space. Scheduled dates are:

About the High Desert Museum
The High Desert Museum is nationally acclaimed for inspiringstewardship of the natural and cultural resources of the High Desert. It offers close-up wildlife encounters,living history performances, Native American and Western art, nature trails, tours and special programs for all ages. An independent, nonprofit educational institution, it is on 135 forested acres, five minutes from Bend on South Highway 97. Open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily May 1 through Oct. 31. Adults, $15; seniors (65 plus), $12; ages 5-12, $9; ages 4 and younger and all members, free.Open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily Nov. 1 through April 30. Closed July 4 th , Thanksgiving and Christmas Day.
