Horse found north of Madras; owner sought
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s help in finding the owner of a horse found along Highway 97 north of Madras Thursday morning.
Sheriff’s Capt. Marc Heckathorn said deputies responded to a report of a found horse around 8:30 a.m. north of Madras along Hwy 97 between Dogwood and Elm Lane.
“The horse is a bay mare brown in color with black mane and tail,” Heckathorn said in a news release. “It appears the horse has been out all night and likely belongs to someone in the local area but efforts to locate the owner have failed thus far.”
The picture released by the sheriff’s officeshows the horse wearing a harness, but it was not on the horse when first located. Heckathorn said.
If you recognize this horse please contact the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office at 541-475-6520 or dispatch at 541-475-2201.
