Oregon State Police Fish and Wildlife troopers from the Bend Area Command office asked for the public’s help Tuesday to identify whoever illegally shot shot and wasted four deer in the Kotzman Basin area southeast of Bend.
A reward of up to $500 is offered by the Oregon Hunter’s Association for information that leads to an arrest in this case.
According to Senior Trooper Andrew Menlow, OSP received a report Saturday from two people filming winter range deer of the discovery of four deer unlawfully killed and left to waste in the Kotzman Basin area south of Highway 20 in Deschutes County.
Three dead deer were found together and a fourth was found south near NF 23 Road. Three of the four deer had their heads removed.
Menlow said information indicates the deer were shot during daylight in the late afternoon hours on Friday, Nov. 16.
The reward is offered through the Turn-In-Poachers (TIP) program. Anyone with information regarding the cases is asked to call the TIP line at 1-800-452-7888 or contact Senior Trooper Menlow at (541) 419-1651.
