Four hurt in Hwy. 26 crash near Mt. Hood
Four people were injured Wednesday evening in a two-car crash on an ice and snow -covered stretch of Highway 26 about eight miles east of Government Camp, Oregon State Police reported.
OSP troopers from The Dalles Area Command office are continuing the investigation.
According to Senior Trooper Kendra Raiser, around 5:30 p.m., a 1992 Toyota Camry four-door driven by Tanner Quinn, 17, of Bend, , was westbound on Highway 26 near milepost 63 when he lost control on the ice/snow-covered highway.
The Toyota rotated and slid into the eastbound lane, where it was struck in the passenger side by an eastbound 2011 Ford Escape SUV driven by Andrew J. Mason, 32, from Washougal, Wash.
Quinn and his two passengers were taken by AMR ambulance to Mt. Hood Medical Center in Gresham. The passengers are identified as Savannah Rivas, 16, and Allison Quinn, 14, also from Bend.
Mason was not injured but his right-front passenger, Joscelyn Frank, 25, from Washougal, also was taken by ambulance to Mt. Hood Medical Center.
Troops said all of the injuries were non-life threatening. Seat-belt use information is not available.
OSP was assisted at the scene by the Hoodland Fire Department, AMR ambulance and ODOT. The highway was blocked during the incident response and investigation.
