Three arrested in NE Bend heroin bust

Central Oregon drug agents arrested a Washington state man and two Bend residents Thursday as they broke up alleged heroin sales out of a northeast Bend motel room. A 2-year-old girl was taken into protective custody, they said.

Detectives assigned to the Central Oregon Drug Enforcement Team, assisted by the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office Street Crimes United, stopped a car around 11 a.m. and arrested passenger Aaron Roth, 27, of Carson, Wash., at the intersection of Northeast 13 th Street and Revere Avenue, said Lt. Ken Mannix.

Roth was in possession of about 20 grams of heroin and a “user amount” of methamphetamine when he was arrested, Mannix said.

Investigators had determined Roth traveled to Bend and rented a room at the Dunes Motel, 1515 NE Third Street, “for the sole purpose of selling heroin to individuals from it,” Mannix said in a news release. He later noted this was the fourth heroin bust at that motel in just over a year.

Detectives conducted surveillance to monitor the activities of people at the motel, including Roth, before his arrest, Mannix said.

During the investigation, detectives identified a second room of interest at the motel, rented by Deborah Krieger, 50, of Bend, he said.

Around 11:30 a.m., detectives, aided by Bend police, contacted Krieger and Aaron Polit, 32, also of Bend, as they left their room with Krieger’s 2-year-old child, Mannix said.

Krieger was found to possess about nine grams of heroin, packaging material and scales, while Polit had “user amounts” of heroin in his possession, the lieutenant said.

Krieger’s 2-year-old daughter was taken into protective custody.

All three suspects were taken to the Deschutes County Jail. Roth is charged with heroin and meth possession, manufacture and delivery, while Krieger is charged with heroin possession, manufacture and delivery, and first-degree child neglect. Polit is charged with heroin possession and delivery, first-degree child neglect and violation of a release agreement.
