Vegas man arrested near Bend with $90K in pills

A Las Vegas man stopped for speeding on Highway 97 near Bend last week faces drug charges after an Oregon State Police trooper found about 3,000 Oxycodone pills worth $90,000 hidden in his car, troopers said Thursday.

“The OSP Drug Enforcement Section continued the investigation to the point the following information can be released,” the news release said.

Around 4:20 p.m. last Wednesday, an OSP trooper stopped a 1992 Cadillac Seville displaying California license plates for a speed violation northbound on Highway 97 near milepost 143, on the south end of Bend.

The car’s driver was identified as Kenneth Lee Ottrix, 54, of Las Vegas, Nevada.

An investigation during the traffic stop led the trooper to find about 3,000 Oxycodone pills concealed in the car’s trunk. Troopers said the estimated value of the seized pills is $90,000.

Ottrix was taken into custody and lodged at the Deschutes County Jail for on drug possession, distribution and manufacture charges.
