Temporary road, trail closures on Ochoco NF

KTVZ

Starting January 2nd, there will be a temporary road and trail closure order for Forest Service Road 42, Forest Service Road 4210, and sections of snowmobile trails North of Forest Service Road 42 through the winter season. These closures are in effect because of public safety concerns with logging activity in the area.

Forest Service Road 42 and Forest Service Road 4210 will be closed during the week day because of public safety concerns with log trucks hauling logs on icy and snow roads. Signs and maps will be posted and a temporary barricade will be placed at the junction of Forest Service Road 22 and Forest Service Road 42.

In addition, sections of snowmobile trails North of Forest Service Road 42, as shown on the closure map, will be closed seven days a week to allow road access to logging units. Maps and signs will be posted on the Ochoco National Forest website, at Walton Lake Sno-Park, and at the Ochoco National Forest Supervisors Office.

Other snowmobile trails on the Ochoco National Forest are still open and may be accessed from the Walton Lake Sno-Park.

Road closures will be lifted after operations are completed. These dates are subject to change at a short notice based on weather conditions. Please call the Ochoco National Forest Supervisors Office at (541) 416-6500 or visit the Ochoco National Forest website at www.fs.usda.gov/centraloregon for more information.
