Nine C. Oregon families win cars for Christmas

KTVZ

Nine Central Oregon families had their holiday wish come true Saturday and got to bring home a much-needed car from Central Oregon Auto Care. All nine were winners of the second annual “Words for Wheels” program.

To win a car, families sent in letters explaining why they desperately needed one. Whether that be to get to medical appointments, or for kids to go to school.

The vehicles are either bought or donated and then completely refurbished, all on Central Oregon Auto Care’s dime.

“For us, working on cars is what we do,” said Wade Bryant of Central Oregon Auto Care. “There’s a lot of neat organizations out there that do coat drives and food drives — and we fix cars.”

Over 100 letters were sent in this year, and the winners say they could not be more grateful to have been chosen.

“It means everything to us,” said Patricia Russell, one of the nine “Words for Wheels” winners. “We haven’t had a car for a while, so we’re so, so very grateful.”

Central Oregon Auto Care plans to host “Words for Wheels” again next year, and they remind Central Oregonians that they appreciate car donations for the program.
