Redmond teen arrested in stabbing of Wash. man

A 17-year-old Redmond resident who refused to leave a southwest Redmond home was arrested on charges he stabbed a 40-year-old Washington state man several times during a dispute Sunday night, police said.

Police responded shortly after 7:30 p.m. to a dispute at a house in the 900 block of NW Quince Avenue, said Lt. Nathan Garibay.

They arrived to find the 40-year-old Onalaska, Wash. resident with several stab wounds, Garibay said. The man, who police did not identify, was taken by ambulance to St. Charles-Redmond, where he was treated and later released, the lieutenant said.

The 17-year-old male suspect was still on scene when police arrived, Garibay said.

An investigation by officers and detectives determined the teen had gone to the home and refused to leave after being told to do so by the residents, Garibay said.

A dispute ensued in which the teen stabbed the victim multiple times, Garibay said. During the dispute, a 17-year-old girl also received minor injuries that were not a result of the knife, he added.

The teen male was taken into custody and lodged at the Deschutes County Juvenile Detention Center on initial charges of second- and fourth-degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon and second-degree criminal trespass.

Garibay said the case was referred to the district attorney’s office for formal charges.
