Wanted Bend man caught after brief pursuit

A Bend man wanted on a parole violation charge was spotted by police at the city’s north end Wednesday evening but refused to pull over, leading an officer on a pursuit that soon was called off. But he was found nearby, outside his parked pickup, and arrested, they said.

An officer tried to stop a 2000 Chevy Silverado on Highway 97 near Robal Road just after 6 p.m., said Sgt. Brian Beekman.

The officer recognized the driver as Adam Jason Hagenbach, 38, sought for violating parole, but he also had committed a traffic violation (failure to maintain a travel lane), Beekman said.

Hagenbach refused to pull over and the officer pursued the pickup into the Cooley Road area, the sergeant said.

The officer stopped pursuing Hagenbach on Vogt Road, but a search of the area found him near his parked pickup on Lynn Way, Beekman said.

Hagenbach was arrested without incident and found to possess a restricted weapon (a knife) he was not allowed to carry.

Also, an Oregon State Police drug-detection dog was brought in to search the area and found methamphetamine Hagenbach allegedly tried to throw away, Beekman said.

Hagenbach was booked into the Deschutes County Jail and held without bail on the parole violation warrant. He also was charged with attempting to elude a police officer, meth distribution and possession, carrying a concealed weapon and felon in possession of a weapon (the restricted knife).
