KPOV receives grant to aid development

KPOV, 88.9 fm has received a $20,000 grant from the Oregon Community Foundation (OCF) to hire a part-time development director, formalize a major donor program, and increase business and foundation support for High Desert Community Radio.

“We are very grateful to the Oregon Community Foundation for helping to sustain KPOV as an independent radio voice of and for the people of Central Oregon,” said Stark.

The mission of the Oregon Community Foundation is to improve life in Oregon and promote effective philanthropy. OCF works with individuals, families, businesses and organizations to create charitable funds to support the community causes they care about. Through these funds OCF awards more than $80 million annually in grants and scholarships.

OCF makes grants through an application process that involves local citizens in the review and evaluation of requests for funds. Application materials are available through the Foundation’s Portland office. KPOV is a listener-supported, volunteer-powered community radio station that broadcasts at 88.9 FM and live on the web at kpov.org. High Desert Community Radio offers locally-produced programs not heard on any other radio stations in the area, including civic affairs, election coverage, and the most diverse music programming in Central Oregon.
