Deschutes County District Attorney Patrick Flaherty announced Wednesday that Sarah Foreman has accepted an appointment as a deputy DA in his office.

Foreman graduated from Willamette Law School in 2004. She was a deputy district attorney in Deschutes County from 2004 until 2008, when she went to work at the Oregon Department of Justice in Salem.

From 2008 to 2011, Foreman was an assistant attorney general, assigned to the trial division with a focus on civil litigation. In 2011, Foreman left Salem to return to Bend.

Flaherty said Foreman was well-respected by law enforcement, the bench and defense bar when she left in 2008 and quickly established an excellent reputation at the Department of Justice and the courts, where she litigated civil cases for the attorney general.

“Her trial skills, extensive legal knowledge and work ethic make her an excellent addition to the district attorney’s office.,” the announcement said.

Flaherty said, “Those who know Sarah have joined me in giving her a hearty welcome home, and I’m confident that those who do not know Sarah will quickly come to appreciate why we are so pleased to have her back in the DA’s office”.
