Freezing rain delays school: Madras, W. Springs, Culver

Freezing rain prompted 2-hour delays in the start of school in the Jefferson County 509J School District, as well as at Warm Springs and in the Culver School District on Thursday morning.

The winter weather has led to many school closures in Eastern Oregon.

The Intermountain Education Service District announced Thursday that schools will be closed in Boardman, Helix, Hermiston, Ione, Irrigon, Pendleton, Stanfield and Umatilla.

The Heppner, Echo and Milton-Freewater districts have delays, as do many Columbia Gorge schools.
