New tapas-cocktail lounge in downtown Bend

Downtown Bend will welcome a new restaurant to the former Bo’s Restobar space this year.

Howard Friedman, CCIM and Darren Powderly, CCIM with Compass Commercial Real Estate Services represented the landlord, Keystone Partners, LLC and the tenant, SBK Group in the lease of the 1,671-square-foot restaurant space.

The lessee, Krit Dangruenrat and his wife Bua, have been owners and operators of a family restaurant and bar in Manhattan, N.Y. They plan to open a tapas and cocktail lounge in the Franklin Crossing space.

“We wanted to move to Bend to raise a family away from the big city, and Bend’s outdoor activities were a huge draw for us,” said Dangruenrat. “My uncle from Port Townsend, Washington had visited Bend over the years and convinced Bua and I to take a look. We love to snowboard and mountain bike and we fell in love with Central Oregon. We knew we wanted to raise our family here to take advantage of all the recreational opportunities.”

The as-yet-to-be-named restaurant will offer a menu with innovative small plates and interesting cocktails.

“Howard and Darren really helped us obtain this great space in Franklin Crossing,” said Dangruenrat. “We are excited to bring a little piece of the Big Apple to Bend and look forward to becoming a part of the community.”

The restaurant is planning to be open by late February or March.
