Bend police seek help finding pickup in hit-and-run
Bend police asked the public for help Saturday night in hopes of finding a pickup truck sought in a hit-and-run case for running a southwest Bend stop sign and colliding with another car last month, injuring a Bend woman.
Around 4:20 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 20, police responded to the hit-and-run crash at the intersection of SW Colorado Avenue and Columbia St., said Lt. Brian Street.
Witnesses said an older, small Chevy S-10 pickup, white or silver in color, ran a stop sign and struck another car in an intersection.
Kindel said the pickup was heading south on Columbia and went through the stop sign, striking the car that was eastbound on Colorado.
The pickup, occupied by three “younger males,” fled the scene, leaving behind part of their pickup – some of the chrome lettering, indicating it is an “S 10” pickup, Kindel said.
Police said the pickup should have front end damage, most likely to the front left portion, and there also should be damage to the front left lighting assembly.
The woman driving the other car was alone, and initially wasn’t taken to the hospital, but later was found to need back surgery, Kindel said.
