Bend-area home prices up 14.7 percent in year

Bend-area home prices rose by 14.7 percent in January, compared to a year ago, a rate well above the also-impressive nationwide price rise, according to data released Tuesday by CoreLogic.

On a month-to-month basis, Bend metro area (Deschutes County) home prices rose 0.3 percent in January, the real state data firm reported.

The national home price rise of 9.7 percent over the past year is the largest seen since April 2006, according to CoreLogic. Nationally, home prices rose 0.7 percent from December to January, they said.

CoreLogic said its data projects another 9.7 percent national home price gain in February, though the month-to-month figure is expected to drop by .03 percent, reflecting a seasonal winter slowdown.

Oregon’s home prices rose 8.5 to 9.1 percent from in the year ending in January, depending on whether you include “distressed” sales or not, 11 th -highest in the nation, CoreLogic said.
