Metolius man hurt, cited in Hwy. 224 crash

A Metolius man was injured and cited, and the other driver also received non-life threatening injuries Tuesday afternoon in a two-vehicle head-on crash along Highway 224 west of Estacada, Oregon State Police reported.

Around 3 p.m., a Jeep Cherokee driven by Jason W. Green, 40, of Metolius, was westbound on Highway 224 near SE Heiple Road when it crossed the center line and collided head-on with an eastbound Chevrolet Aveo driven by Victoria MacDonald, 18, of Estacada. troopers said.

After impact, the Jeep rolled onto its side coming to rest on the highway shoulder.

Both drivers were taken by ambulance to Oregon Heath & Science University with non-life threatening injuries. Both were using safety restraints, troopers said.

OSP troopers from the Portland Area Command office responded to investigate. Green was cited for careless driving and driving uninsured.

OSP was assisted at the scene by Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office, Estacada Rural Fire Protection District No. 69, and ODOT. The highway was blocked over an hour during incident response and scene investigation.
