Prineville man arrested in shooting at Tumalo home

A Prineville man was pulled over and arrested on attempted murder and other charges Friday afternoon, minutes after he allegedly fired at least two gunshots during a domestic dispute at his daughter’s Tumalo home — one of which broke glass that wounded the woman, authorities said.

Deschutes County sheriff’s dispatchers got a report around 2:23 p.m. of a woman having been shot by a man she knew at 18520 Pinehurst Road in Tumalo, said sheriff’s Sgt. Joe DeLuca.

Dispatchers also were told the man who had fired the shot had left in a red pickup truck, DeLuca said.

Within 5-10 minutes, deputies found and stopped a pickup truck driven by Terry Lee Allen, 61, near the intersection of Gerking Market and Innes Market roads, DeLuca said. He was confirmed to be the suspect and detained.

Deputies also went to the home on Pinehurst Road and confirmed that shots had been fired, the sergeant said, but learned that the victim, Pamela Allen, 39, who lives at the address, had not been struck by gunfire. Instead, he said, she “suffered non-life-threatening injuries related to breaking glass resulting from a bullet being fired in her proximity.”

DuLuca was not ready to confirm or provide details on who called police to the scene as the investigation continued.

A preliminary investigation found the incident was a domestic dispute between the father and daughter, DeLuca said. While the investigation was continuing, DeLuca said in a news release that “drugs and alcohol are not believed to be factors” in what took place.

Terry Allen was booked into the Deschutes County Jail on charges of attempted murder, unlawful use of a weapon and fourth-degree assault. Initial bail totaled $257,500.
