Meissner Nordic Club seeking new groomer
The Meissner Nordic Club is a community ski club that has been helping groom the Virginia Meissner Snow-Park for the past 20 years.
But their current groomer has run its course.
The only way the trails were groomed this weekend for skiers is because of a demo of the new groomer the club hopes to acquire.
The cost is, of course, the problem. The Piston Bully 100 costs $195,000.
Club members are asking the community for some help.
“The grooming machine that we’ve had is kind of on its last legs,” said Cynthia Engel, Meissner Nordic Club president. “Its been cranking along for us for a lot of years. And it’s time now, given the number of grooming days, the amount of kilometers we groom — we’re really ready to step up to a new sno-cat.”
The club grooms four to five hours a day, four days a week.
It’s estimated the snow park receives about 1,200 to 1,500 guests per weekend that enjoy the groomed trails.
