Bend man jailed in stabbing of roommate

KTVZ

A 20-year-old Bend man was arrested early Wednesday, accused of stabbing his roommate several times during a dispute a short time earlier, police said.

Police responded around 1:30 a.m. to a home at 387 SE Dell Lane on a reported stabbing, said Sgt. Tom Pine. Arriving officers found Jesse James West, 23, inside the home with several stab wounds on the upper half of his body, Pine said.

Bend fire medics took West to St. Charles Medical Center-Bend with non-life-threatening stab wounds, according to Pine; a nursing supervisor said later he was not listed in the public patient directory.

An investigation determined Spencer Antonio Perez was a suspect. Perez later was found at his mother’s home and taken into custody without incident by Deschutes County sheriff’s deputies, assisted by Bend police, Pine said. He added that Perez had minor injuries that did not require medical attention.

Perez was booked into the Deschutes County Jail on charges of first-degree assault and unlawful use of a weapon, Pine said. He was held without bail on a parole violation charge, according to jail records.

Pine said police still were investigating the cause of the dispute.
