Early assessment, support open house set
Did you know that three out of 100 individuals have early psychosis that could be related to schizophrenia during their lifetime? It commonly develops between the ages of 15 and 27, and like diabetes, symptoms of psychosis can be managed.
Deschutes County’s behavioral health program. called Early Assessment and Support Alliance -or EASA – will celebrate its five-year anniversary on Thursday, April 25 with an open house!
The Early Assessment and Support Alliance offers two years of free mental health services for qualifying young adults and their family of Deschutes, Jefferson and Crook Counties. With EASA’s help, young adults learn to manage their symptoms, and go on to succeed in work, school, and life.
A young person with untreated psychosis might drop out of school, lose the ability to understand verbal and written communication, experience audio and/or visual hallucinations, have bizarre beliefs, and become isolated from friends and family. Early detection significantly increases the likelihood of successful recovery, and healthy living.
