Bend bowlers get the ball rolling for kids

KTVZ

Hundreds of people with several area companies came out Saturday to try to roll a strike for kids who need some guidance and a new friend.

It was the 14th annual ‘Bowl for Kids Sake’ on Saturday at Bend’s Sun Mountain Fun Center, one of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Oregon’s biggest fundraisers.

NewsChannel 21 was there with its own team –one of 40 teams that laced up those bowling shoes, and also participated in raffles while kids enjoyed face-painting.

More than $25,000 was raised for the organization, a “21 Cares for Kids” partner.

“This program, it does amazing things in our community,” said program Director Amanda Gow. “So I’m so happy to be able to raise that money and have more kids matched in great relationships.”

More than 300 people in Central Oregon are participating in the fundraisers

It was the second of three such events around the region for BBBSCO — Crook County’s eighth annual Bowl for Kids Sake was on April 27th, while Jefferson County’s is coming up June 1st at Madras Bowl & Pizza. Find out more here about all three events and the Big Brothers Big Sisters organization here in Central Oregon.
