KTVZ

A Redmond man was taken to the hospital, then arrested after a dispute with his girlfriend and reports he could be armed and holding a child.

Police responded to a domestic dispute around 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday, where Thomas Duchaine, 32, was arguing with his girlfriend, said police Lt. Keith Knight. During the 911 call, it was reported Duchaine might be armed and holding a child.

When officers arrived at the home 2622 SW 50th Street, the girlfriend and children inside the home with Duchaine were able to get out, Knight said.

After negotiations with Duchaine, he also came out of the home, and was taken into custody without incident.

Duchaine was taken to St Charles-Redmond for evaluation, then to the Deschutes County Jail, where he was booked on coercion and domestic harassment charges.

Jail officers said he was in the jail for about two hours before he posted 10 percent of his $6,000 bail and was released Thursday morning.

Redmond police thanked the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office and Oregon State Police for their help in the case.

Anyone with additional information was asked to contact Redmond police at (541) 504-3400 or county dispatch at (541) 693-6911.
