Oregon Adaptive Sports is the recipient of a $1,000 grant from the Robert W Chandler Fund, $2,00 from an Anonymous Fund and $12,000 from the Emil W. and Lois E. Brammert Fund for a total for $15,000 in funding from the Oregon Community Foundation.

The funds will be used to expand from seasonal to year round programming to better meet the needs of persons with disabilities, including military veterans and their families.

ABOUT OAS: Oregon Adaptive Sports has been breaking barriers in Central Oregon since 1996, providing disabled people and their families’ opportunities for outdoor recreation. Our goal is to nurture the human spirit and foster self-confidence and independence. We currently offer instructional programs in alpine and Nordic skiing and snowboarding, at Hoodoo and Mt. Bachelor ski resorts as well as summer recreation opportunities throughout Central Oregon. To prevent cost from being a barrier to participation, we rely on the support of hundreds of volunteers, businesses, donors and sponsors.

ABOUT OCF: The mission of The Oregon Community Foundation is to improve the life in Oregon and promote effective philanthropy. OCF works with individuals, families, businesses and organizations to create charitable funds to support the community causes they care about. Through these funds OCF awards nearly $70 million annually in grants and scholarships.

The Oregon Community Foundation makes grants through an application process that involves local citizens to review and evaluation of request for funds. Application materials are available through the foundation’s Portland office. Individuals or businesses interested in establishing a fund may contact the Bend office at 15SW Colorado Avenue, Suite 375, Bend OR 97702, 541-382-1170 or visit www.oregoncf.org
