Redmond man critically injured in O’Neil Jct. crash
Three people were injured, one critically, in a two-car crash on Highway 97 at O’Neil Junction north of Redmond Tuesday morning, Oregon State Police reported.
According to OSP Lt. Carl Rhodes,around 8:30 a.m., a Suzuki passenger car driven by David K. Boyer, 77, of Redmond,pulled out from NW Pershall Way to turn left (northbound) on Highway 97 and was struck by a southbound Kia passenger car driven by Mark W. Davis, 45, of Terrebonne.
The two drivers and Davis’s passenger, Tiffany Vollertsen, 37, of Terrebonne, were taken by ambulance to St. Charles-Redmond. A hospital spokeswoman said Boyer was in critical condition late Tuesday afternoon. Troopers said Davis and Vollertsen sustained “moderate to minor injuries.”
OSP troopers, Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office, Redmond Fire & Rescue, and ODOT responded to the scene.
Trooper April Ratliff, the lead investigator, cited Boyer for driving with a suspended license.
The southbound lanes were blocked during the investigation and vehicle clearance. A detour was in place, until the road fully reopened around 10:45 a.m. Traffic updates may be found on KTVZ.COM’s TripCheck page.
