Small-plane problem sparks Redmond Airport alert

KTVZ

Firefighters and medics were alerted and standing by at Redmond Airport Saturday afternoon as a small plane with three people aboard – and a throttle cable problem – came in for an emergency landing, but it landed safely with no other problems, officials said.

The alert was issued shortly before 2 p.m. as the Columbia 400 aircraft approached the airport, said Redmond Fire Battalion Chief Chris Simmons.

The Aircraft Rescue Firefighting (ARFF) unit and other vehicles and ambulances were standing by as the aircraft landed. It was then towed to the airport’s fixed-base operator for an inspection and any needed repairs, officials said.
