Hot day, cold brews for hundreds on Beer Run
Many like to enjoy a nice cold beer on a hot day, and more than 800 people in Bend Sunday enjoyed their brews on the run.
The annual Beer Run is part of the Bite of Bend, and race organizers say it likely attracted a record number of participants.
The hot weather didn’t stop unique costumes like tutus, KISS members, pirates and ’70s outfits.
The 5K race started in downtown Bend and included three beer stops along the way.
“Once I’m to the beer, I have to be able to finish,” said one man. “I have to get to the beer as fast as possible, and then finish.”
A pair dressed from the ’70s, complete with wigs, said they were rethinking their costume choice on this very warm day
“We should have went as surfers, maybe something a little lighter,” said one man.
His similarly dressed partner said, “We’re here, we’re committed to it. We’re going to go all out and run the race and have fun with it.”
At the finish line, more beer awaited for participants.
