Healthy Beginnings seeks volunteers

KTVZ

Are you looking to volunteer with an established, award winning non-profit that provides services to children and families in Central Oregon?

Do you have a background, knowledge or an interest in early childhood or education, behavior, nursing, speech pathology, optometry, audiology or dentistry.

Healthy Beginnings is currently recruiting community members and professional volunteers (retired or still actively employed) to help in the coming year’s screening clinics.

Although professional background is valuable, there are many opportunities for interested community members to be involved. Volunteers are active in screenings, follow-up, community outreach events, fundraising activities and behind the scenes support. Volunteer schedules are flexible and vary in time commitment. Training is provided.

Healthy Beginnings believes that all children should enter kindergarten healthy and prepared to learn. Our work fosters healthy, nurtured children, families and communities by bringing accessible physical, developmental and behavioral screenings to children from birth through age five. Without volunteer support, we would not be able to provide services to the children of Central Oregon. Healthy Beginnings schedules screening clinics throughout the year in Bend, Redmond, Sunriver, La Pine, Sisters, Madras and Prineville. Volunteers are needed in every community.

“This screening should be as important to entering school as are vaccinations. There is no doubt that when a child enters kindergarten as “learning-ready” as possible, their entire future changes for the better!” –from HB volunteer
