Assault reported in Prineville’s Ochoco Creek Park

KTVZ

Prineville police said Thursday they are stepping up patrols in Ochoco Creek Park after a reported assault Wednesday night in which a man walking through the park said he was attacked by a man who tried to stab or cut him with a knife.

A 23-year-old Prineville resident told police Thursday that around 10 p.m. Wednesday, he was walking along the paved path on the north side of the park, just west of East Elm Street, when the attack occurred, according to Capt. Michael Boyd.

The man said another man suddenly approached him from the bushes and tried to stab or cut him with a knife, Boyd said.

The victim said he was able to hold the suspect back, then ran, receiving two superficial cuts to his hands. Boyd said the man told police the suspect did not say anything, and the motivation for the attack is unknown.

Anyone with information about the incident, or any similar incidents in the area, was asked to contact Prineville police at (541) 447-4168.
