Bend police report latest pedestrian ‘sting’ results

The Bend Police Department conducted a pedestrian safety detail on Thursday at the intersection of NW Wall and Vermont streets.

The primary focus of this detail was to raise pedestrian safety awareness of drivers and pedestrians through education and enforcement of pedestrian right of way laws. Warning signs and traffic cones were posted prior to entering the pedestrian safety operation zone.

The results of the operation were as follows:

Fail to Yield to a Pedestrian: 12 citations & 6 written warnings

Cell Phone Use: 5 citations & 2 written warning

Fail/improper use Safety Belt: 7 citations & 1 written warnings

Other infractions: 12 citations & 2 written warnings

Two vehicles were impounded.

Total Citations: 46

Total written warnings: 11
