KTVZ

The Riverside Blvd./ Tumalo Ave./ Galveston Ave. intersection will be closed for construction beginning Tuesday, September 3, as part of the Riverside/Franklin Pedestrian/Bike Infrastructure Improvement Project.

A detour will be in place and includes NW 14th St., Simpson Ave., Colorado Ave., Wall St. and Bond St. The intersection will be closed beginning September 3 and will reopen October 31.

The contractor will also complete short-term night work August 26-29 to stripe lanes and crosswalks along Franklin Ave. from Lava Rd. to Broadway St. Night work hours are 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Franklin Ave. will be closed one block at a time starting from Lava Rd. and moving on towards Broadway St.

Daytime work continues along Riverside between Broadway St. and Tumalo Ave. Flaggers, signs, and cones are in place to direct traffic through and around the work zones. Travelers should expect delays and plan alternate routes.

This City of Bend project will enhance multimodal travel along Riverside Blvd. and Franklin Ave. between Riverfront St. and Lava Rd. Construction is scheduled to be complete by mid-November. Improvements include buffered bike lanes, curb extensions, improved lighting at street crossings, and updating the Riverside Blvd. and Tumalo Rd. intersection. An ODOT Grant is helping fund the project.
