Missing Warm Springs woman’s body found

Warm Springs police and the FBI recovered a Warm Springs woman’s body Friday morning, days after she was reported missing and six days after a homicide victim’s body was found elsewhere on the reservation, officials said, adding that they’ve found no link between the cases.

However, two women have been arrested in connection with the woman’s disappearance, though not on charges of killing her, authorities said.

Tribal member Faron Kalama, 30, had been reported missing from her home earlier in the week, and authorities turned to the public Thursday in a bid to get more clues as to her whereabouts.

An autopsy will be scheduled with the State Medical Examiner’s Office, said FBI spokeswoman Beth Anne Steele, adding that the results may not be available until early next week.

Warm Springs police arrested Tana Lawrence and Angeledith Kalama on charges of assault and battery, kidnapping and sexual assault related to Kalama’s disappearance, Steele said.

“The women may face federal charges in the future,” she added in a brief news release.

At this point, Steele said, “Investigators have no indication that Kalama’s disappearance is connected to the death of Jonas Andrew Miller, whose body was found on the reservation earlier this week.”

Police and the FBI are continuing the Miller homicide investigation, she said, and there’s no new information to release at this point on that investigation.

Sources on the reservation told NewsChannel 21 a hunter found Miller’s badly beaten body off Trout Lake Road last Sunday.
